How WaterproofingCompare Makes Money

The large majority of listings were compiled from public business data — primarily Google Business Profiles — without any involvement from the business itself. No business paid to appear, and no business was asked for permission, because the underlying information is already public.

Business owners can also submit or correct their own listing at no cost. A free listing is identical in every respect to a compiled one.

One paid product is currently sold: the $79 Quote Autopsy — a written review of basement waterproofing quotes a homeowner already holds. It is paid for by the homeowner, not by contractors.

That direction matters more than the amount. Every other comparison site in this trade is paid by the contractors it lists, which means it cannot tell a homeowner that a quote is bad. We take no money from contractors at all — no featured placement, no lead sales, no referral fees, no affiliate links.

A homeowner who buys an Autopsy is not turned into a lead: their quote and details are not shared with contractors. How the Quote Autopsy works.

• Not verification. WaterproofingCompare does not check licensing, insurance, bonding, certifications, awards, or warranty terms for any listing, paid or unpaid. Use the method comparison to check those yourself before you hire.
• Not an endorsement. A listing is compiled from public business data. It is not a recommendation and carries no opinion about quality of work.
• Not a better rating.Star ratings and review counts are Google's, shown as-is. They are never edited, weighted, or withheld based on payment.
• Not removal of competitors. Paying does not suppress, downrank, or delist any other business.
• Not guaranteed leads. No traffic, call volume, or number of quote requests is promised with any listing.

Within each section, listings are sorted by Google rating. The only thing that moves a listing between sections is a paid Featured placement, which is visually labelled wherever it appears. There is no hidden ranking factor and no pay-to-rank inside the unpaid list.

WaterproofingCompare does not currently use any affiliate or referral links. Links to contractor websites are plain, untagged links that earn us nothing. If that ever changes, this page will say so before the links go live, and affected links will be labelled.

When you submit a quote request, the details go to WaterproofingCompare and may be shared with basement waterproofing contractors in your area, as stated in the consent text on the form. We are not paid per lead, and quote requests are not sold to a lead broker.

We separately record a non-identifying summary of each request — state, service type, and timestamp — to count and audit volume. That record contains no name, email, phone number, or message. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
